We’re diving into 2020 with a Goal Digger mentality, and this lady boss is the perfect example of a goal digger that's really killing it. Shirley Yang is the Founder & CEO of Muses, a professional network that connects creative entrepreneurs and freelancers to various brands and projects. Shirley Yang had a dream to build her own business and be her own boss. Now she's connecting creatives and getting people jobs all over the country. Muses is a freelancers and entrepreneurs network, full of side hustlers, small businesses, brand builders, and creators. People use the app to meet like-minded entrepreneurs, form connections, hire and get hired.

At Luxe Catch, we had the pleasure of interviewing Shirley to see what it takes to be the ultimate Goal Digger going into the new year.

 

 

Q: What does being a Goal Digger mean to you?

A: Relentless pursuit of what's important to an individual

 

Q: What motivates you?

A: Seeing Muses members benefiting from our platform: when they make new connections, hire or get hired for things they love doing.

 

Q: What’s your morning routine?

A: Coffee + breakfast + laptop. I am most productive in the mornings so try to knockout the most important tasks of the day.

 

Q: What advice do you have for female entrepreneurs?

A: Hire slower than you think, save more money than you think, have more patience and grace for yourself.

 

Q: What are your top 3 qualities a Goal Digger must-have?

A: Grit is the most important, but also know when to pivot and adjust course because the definition of success can change with time.

 

Q: What is your favorite quote?

A: So many! This is a good one: "Fortune comes to those to practice most"

 

Q: What book are you currently reading?

A: ”I know this Much is True" by Wally Lamb

 

Q: What are some mentors that motivate you today?

A: There are many. Recently I met Diane von Furstenberg, she said "Be a woman in charge. They can take away your money, your family, but they can never take away your character."

 

Q: What was your "Goal Digger" moment when you started your business?

A: Every time we hit a milestone whether for the tech platform, revenue, or user base growth, it deserves some celebration. 

 

Q: What is your #1 reason for success?

A: Achieving something greater than myself: helping others succeed.

 

Q: What are some goals you are working on now, goal digger?

A: (career, fitness, etc) Starting a family early next year! We are expecting our first baby girl in Feb 2020 :)
